Even more Guinea

Even more Guinea

Today’s Financial Times carries  this piece on Guinea (paywall but kindly available to read here).  It’s more of what amounts to a serious look at Simandou in Guinea.  Yet of course there’s much more than meets the eye here.  Guinea seems to us to be one of the less corrupt parts of Africa (and there’s been many advances across Africa in the last few years), yet there’s an odd paradox in play – those who are arguing for a tough line are the ones who are emphasising the corruption.  If they’re right, it’s still there of course; which rather undermines their own argument.  Best to get it into the open, surely?  One thing’s for sure; if Guinea expropriates the Vale/BSGR blocks then it’s fairly clear who may make billions……..
